I took the advise of a couple of blokes from here and launched th tinnie from Arrawarra beach.
The launch was easy, I have added an extension of 3 mts from my trailer to the F-truck.
So in I jump and head off in the direction of NW Solitary watching the sounder for any change in bottom.
I found a bit of bottom as I neared the rock, way back from the exclusion zone, but all I managed to pull out of there was a couple of red rock cod.
I motored around for another hour but found nothing of signifigance in the way of bottom, even dropping a bait down on most places produced nill.
So fellas, which direction do I have to head and for how far to get a fish.
Baz.
How big is your tinny? If its small i would be heading SE around the corner and drifting off Darkum reef for snapper, roughly 1-4 ks off Darkum headland. Be careful though there is a lot of shallow bombies through there that crack in a small swell.
If its more of a decent size try heading out to the wash and floatline for snapper and kings. There are also pretty big (up to 5kg) tailor off there at times. Good trag and tuskies in the reefs around this area too. The wash is past NW Solitary on the way to the big islands. Long time since I've been there but someone here will give you GPS marks, its no secret.
From North i think its Arrawarra, Mullawarra,Mullaway, Darkum. There used to be a single house in on the N/E corner of darkum headland (15 yrs ago). Basically from Mullawarra Sth you should go ok. Early morning/ late arvo stuff though as its not too deep through there.
There is also Arrawarra reef out the front of Arrawarra headland prob 2-3 k's. Look for the boats on your way out. In mackerel season you can't miss, its a parking lot.
