Hit the fisherman’s island boat ramp at 5.30am this morning had a great run out to mud, arrived just as the sun was beginning to show so rigged up the a couple of pike and started my first troll down the west side of the island 2nd run picked up a grinner and that was the only fish i picked up for a couple hours of trolling (i don’t think there are any tailor left as Shane has been catching them all!!).
I decided to move over to a little reef just outside of the shipping channel where there seemed to be a pelage of small squire so after 20 minutes of catching a releasing at least 30 squire decided that i would call it quits about 11.30am and head for home as my wife needed the car that afternoon. As i was on my way back at the mouth of the river i sore some fish breaking the surface, i followed the shoal of what looked to be mac tuna for an hour or so and throw everything i had at them but could not get a take, so now late i hit the road.
Perfect conditions great morning but no feed but you can’t always have it all!
