    humminbird owners and sensitivity ??

I have a humminbird 797 SI I am currently running the sensitivity on 7 out of 20 mainly because it appears if I go any higher it clouds up the screen with big spoltches of colour as if I'm going over a big patch of weed or plankton, yeat I see some people are running there sensitivities at 16 or 17 out of 20.
JUST asking in general what others run theres on ??
I fish freshwater only mainly Lake MacDonald and Borumba Dam.

Paul, have you seen the internet forum dedicated to H'bird SI?
It is based in the US, lot of freshwater fishers, google should find it for you if you haven't seen it, sorry can't remember the link atm. Might find it a good read.
    Cheers.

Bud-dy, I run my 931C at 17/20 sensitivity. Having said that I'm pretty sure the technology is totally different to yours so you aren't comparing apples with apples.

The sites dedicated to Humminbird side imaging that I monitor are

    sideimaging@yahoogroups.com and

    http://www.xumba.scholleco.com/index.php

I believe you have to join the groups if you want to post a question.

I run mine anywhere between 5 - 17 depending on what I'm trying to do at the time.

Have you tried the Surface Clutter and Noise Filter adjustments.

Surface Clutter adjusts the filter that removes surface clutter noise caused by
algae and aeration. The lower the setting, the less surface clutter will be
    displayed.

If the problem is only there when the outboard is running then it may be an interference problem which can be reduced using the noise filter.

Anyway, check the above sites as there's heaps of info available.

Also, have you installed the latest upgrade from humminbird, it's worth it.
