Re: Lowrance Side Scan
G'day Guys,
Lowrance don't have any more info on pricing.
They are suggesting that it will be around $700 US, which is around $840 Aus.
Ian, I agree with you fully.
Even the Navy hydrographic team have side scans orth $300,000+ and they are quite old but very good.
The versions we get are obviously determined by price ... otherwise they couldn't sell them.
As far as depth goes ... the deeper the depth the less effective the side scan will be.
I liken it to looking at something at street level ... everything is in a 3d perspective.
If you go up 5 storeys in a building and look down, you still get some 3d (sideways) perspective, but less than at street level.
If you go up 40 storeys, then the 3d perspective is gone.
Same deal with a sideways looking transducer
I will be getting a side scan unit to play with
Cheers
Pete

Re: Lowrance Side Scan
When I rang them months ago, they said around 3 to 400.
The reality is more than double that.
Different places are showing prices of about $929 to $999 to preorder them. Due in November.
US prices are about $549 to $599 (US).
