Redcliffe Land Based?
Hey Guys,
So I hit up Woody Point Jetty last Monday... didn't have any luck there unfortunately, I've had a bit of a search around the forums, thinking of giving Shield St Rocks a crack around Queens Beach.
Does anyone know if this is a good place to have a crack land based?
Else any idea's on some good land spots & any advise is always appreciated.
Cheers,
Dan

Queens rocks goes good at times and i would have normaly directed you to scotts point rocks but not sure if the new green zones include the shore line but give queens a go and you should be in the running for some good bream and some decent squire if you can avoid the snags.

Re: Redcliffe Land Based?
get your waders on and give the ends of the beaches near the rocks a go. Chuck soft plastics if your that way inclined, or throw unweighted pillies on ganged hooks. Dawn and Dusk are the times to fish. Been quite a few good fish landed in the last couple of weeks. Dont fall into the trap of wading out as far as you can....look for bait schools breaking the surface...and that could mean looking behind you. Some good snaps, bream and tailor landed there.

Hey Fellas, thanks a heap for the replies so far, sounds like Queens rocks around shield street would be a good place to give a try from the responses so far.
Greg, would you know if there's a way I can find out if scotts point rocks are included in the green zones?
Cheers,

Re: Redcliffe Land Based?
scotts point rocks are in green zone, to the best of my knowledge.
They had a sign about 300 met fro jetty, and yellow markers out wider.
From what i can see, i think the houses down on the wateredge is green.
Doesnt seem to stop a yellow kyack out in the middle of the zone, that i have noticed on many occassions, and there was a tinnie right in the middle this morning.
many times a week i see boats in the zone.

Re: Redcliffe Land Based?
Dan, I wouldnt bother with Scotts point at the moment Im not sure of the green zone boundaries there (I have never fished there so it doesnt affect me). Anywhere along the shoreline from Margate right around to Jamieson Park at scarbie...is dotted with coffee rock within casting distance from shore. I have seen some good fish taken at various times over the last couple of weeks from a number of these areas...mostly late afternoon once the sun goes off the water.

Re: Redcliffe Land Based?
Livies in cast nets from the new pontoon at clontarf ramp, from the pontoon near the coastguard at scarbie, on the mid to high tides near the newish parking area near Jamieson park, southern end of margate beach near that carpark. The only place landbased with jigs I know of is woody point jetty or the old hornibrook bridge....maybe some other members could add some spots for you. These are from my observations...I cant throw a castnet for sh&t..but I have seen others getting their livies in these places. Most of my livies are caught boat based. Should be a few fish around with the bit of rain we are getting now to give the water a bit of colour.

Re: Redcliffe Land Based?
Try the very northern rock groyne at scarborough beach in front of the Scarby Hotel. There is a decent sized sand patch out from it and it does have some decent squire and snapps poking around that area. Hardest part will be landing one but it would be doable.
The gun bait would be live squid (catchable there) or live hardiheads (catchable from Redcliffe Jetty). A fresh slab of yellowtail will work almost as well for the big pinkies.
