Hey guys, Looking at heading down to Iluka again next week and was wondering what the water is like?. I went down about 3 weeks ago and timed it nicely with the flood . Just looking to find out how it is recovering and whats on the bite.

Hi Cam

We just spent a week down there, the river is still very dirty, but no doubt improving all the time.

A lot of fish also have red spot from the flood.

The fishing has been pretty good fro bream and the like out on the rocks and such, blokes were just starting to fish the river ( middle wall etc ) last Thursday/Friday, did not get to find out how the got on.

You will get plenty of bream if that's what you are after.

Hey mate,
Was down there for the long weekend and found it a bit hard. Bream are around on the beaches and off the wall on the highs, the pros had a huge trap at woody head the whole time and were taking a lot. Not a big fan of bream so i left them alone. No tailor to be spun up but they were catching some at Sharks on baits. Best bet would be black fish of the headlands, I saw a lot being caught and got into them myself. First time i had fished for them in about 20 years. The odd flatie of the beaches and beside the headlands as well.

Thanks for the replies guys. If i go i ont get down there till tuesday so the river might be alot better by then by the sounds of it. I might give it a go anyway, still a great place for a beer if the fish dont seem interested.
