Have a look at the following for fuel/performance.
The US figures are in US gallons, multiply by 1.17 to Imperial miles/gallon.
A US gallon is 3.88 litres, imperial is 4.55.

Don't know about prices, but is you have to ask.........
While I'm not going to do the research for you, I will recommend the Verado. I have one, and love it.
The next boat, likely to be a Striper or Grady about 30 foot (if I go that way, maybe a years time), will have a pair of big black 350's on the back.
Cheers,
Tim

Tim I am not after someone to do my research for me (I know how to search the net) but it is always good to get the opinion of many people just like yourself that have run a motor and have first hand experiences with them. What size is the verado you are running.
By the way twin 350's![]()

that thing is going to move!!!
Brenden, you do get a few PPL that dont GAF, most motors in that size are all very good, fuel is on par pretty much, i would think twin 250;s E Tecs would run sweet on that boat

I have a 250. I cruise about 4000 revs using 32-35 litres per hour, 22-26 knots, depending on conditions. She holds her speed very well, torquey and quiet as a mouse, with very little in the way of exhaust fumes.
Drive by wire and hydraulic steering are wonderful, the throttle and steering are instantly and exactly responsive, making very fine adjustments easy and without feedback. 6200 revs at WOT, and 40 knots, but the fuel usage is 107 litres per hour...
Mine is a 2005 model, I believe improvements have been made since, reducing noise and fuel usage further.
And, frankly, it just looks amazing!
Cheers, and good luck with the search.

IMO avoid injected 2 stks and stuff with superchargers and other unnecessary sh eerr gear. Yamaha honda and suzuki efi 4 stks have the runs on the board and will be more palatable come resale time...and youve got 3 major players who will be looking for sales so go get em. Other thigs to consider are dealer reputation backup etc, and personally Im a Suzuki fan. Mate down road (pro) has 1300 hrs on 07 Yammy, motor has had routine services and anodes only & is as good as day one

E-TEC pm jabba he has one of the big e-tecs any will be able to give you fuel usage...
Personaly on a big heavey boat like your 30ft Cat, I would run a pair off Suzuki's...
The advantage the Suzuki's have over rest is there low gear ratio and prop diameter. The Suzuki's turn the biggest diameter prop on the market (16" diameter).. What that translates to, is more thrust at any given speed....
The E-tec are very good an would be as econonical as any 4st... But on big heavy boats oil usage will be increased as the motors are working hard...
Why? If with Superchargers it's the old "too much to go wrong" wouldn't that validate 2 strokes as they're simple?
And Verados do have runs on the board...
Not after your throat, just want to understand the basis for your opinion, as it impinges upon my love the the big black howler!

I'll second what Jabba said about the E-tecs, not in this case. With those engines you'll be using around 40 l per /hr per side and burning around 1 litre per hr of the xd 100 now at around $300 per 20L itwill be costing you $1500 per hundred hrs in oil alone which will be much more than a 100 hr service on those engines! A nice set of four stroke will do nicely and see which company/ dealer wants to play when it comes to price as 2 engines is quite a sweetener!!!

Alcohol doesn't agree with me, but i sure do enjoy the argument!!!
I dont know any commercial blokes with Verados so I cant really say iif they have the runs on the board or not, down here Yamaha & suuki have the commercial outboard show cornered with some of the motors approaching 5000, yes 5000 hrs. You couldnt give me a DI 2stk for a large heavy boat, just me maybe but too many negatives from my and other peoples experiences. Not dumpin on Verados Timi and great to see blokes having a good run from their gear. Old mate is about to fork out approx 50 k or more ,gotta get it right.
pair of 250 Zukes they will be sweet as they have the VVTi, otherwise you may as well run the 200 Zukes. 250 Yams will be good too as they too have VVTi depends on price and dealership in your local area
Siegfried, we all know you a biased bastard, but you can not compare a commercial motor to a recreational motor.. A commercial engine will out last a rec motor by near twice the hours at minimum...
FYI, I know off a few E-tec's that have 4000hrs on them now, and still no major problems,, there in use on a crabbing boat... Minor issue's yep, they have had a few. Bad fuel has been the main cause, but bad fuel in a Yamaha or Suzuki or any other motor is going to cause a problem also.... The E-tec's are getting run on the board, and from what I am told, there slowly becomming popular with the Ab boats down in Victoria..
Oh, and the dealer and motor tech for the brand you going to buy is far more important then which brand is better or most reliable. A good or a bad dealer will make or break your experiance with your brand new motors...
A 4st set up incorrect is going to die just a quick as a DI not set up right.. Over propped, leg too low and new boats that are sold with under powered motors are all going to have a shorten life...
