I hit the Bay with Chris (bayfisher) today for a trip into the central Bay in search of some of the trophy Snapper that have been turning up. We had a late start due to Chris having an alarm malfunctionbut we made up time belting across a glassed out Bay
. Plenty of fog around and it was a bit of a worry around the shipping channel

We hit a bit of ground with some good shows and pulled a couple of legal Squire and Cod on plastics. We moved on in search of bigger game and scored a few nice fishincluding a 60cm+ Snapper I picked up on plastic. Another move and more fish in the boat. At this spot Chris gets nailed and fights a big fish for quite a while before it wears through the leader

Another nice Cod and its time to start moving south again.
We anchor up on the change of the tide and set up a cube trail of Mac Tuna pieces. A few small Snapper hit the esky before my 6kg outfit screams off and after a short but sharp tussle a nice 70cm Snapper hits the deck. Just after this, Chris's favourite Snapper stick folds over and with a mighty crack snaps the top couple of inches off the tip and snaps the 20lb braid. It looks like the line fouled the second runner and actually bent the guide well out of shape

By this time we decided that we had enough fish and it didn't look like the trophy fish were coming out to play so we skimmed across a glassed out Bay and headed home.
The weather was great and the fishing was some of the best I have had in the Bay for quite some time![]()
Chris will post a couple of shots
Cheers
