Anyone using a set line must be no more than 200 m from the line.
Any set line should be marked showing the owner´s surname and address. If the set line is not fixed to something stationary above the water level while being used, it must have a light coloured float attached.
The float must feature the owner´s first name and surname and be at least 15 cm in each of its dimensions. A two or three-litre milk container may be used as a float. A set line must be attached to a stationary object such as a branch, wooden stake or boat.
That was for fresh water.
This is for saltwater.............
(3) A recreational fisher must not use a set line.
Fisheries Regulation 2008Part 1 Regulated fishing apparatus declarations
Chapter 4 Other fisheries declarations
mate id be very careful as to what you post on here reguarding ilegal activities..
never know whos on here reading...
Ah just what I needed, a good laugh on Friday night before the Broncos game!
I reckon it was a horrible headed, verigated scaled, two headed cow shark!
Lots of em up there. Keep ya toes out of the water mate because if the first head misses the second will get you for sure LOL
Seriously though...you were already told in a previous thread that this is illegal!
Flatzie

classic ozie(still gut laughing), or was that grasshopper !!!!
cod or pike eel . where does it mension set line ? i dont see it .
cheers
Dont worry, you cant get any flak for it, as you never made a mistake on a fish count!
Good website this... with even Greater members....... ( in general)
No,
I am interested. Laugh all you like but there is a problem here. This practice is ILLEGAL.
Illegal liines were set, and checked for no win.
You lot are unreal. The lynch mob should be drawing straws.
I cant see any mention of set line either, and theres no note to say he edited the first post, so whats up?
Back to topic......Im pretty sure it was a ray. I had the same thing happen to me. Fishing (in a boat) in a canal with a large mullet fillet out, something took it and ran straight for the nearest pontoon and hugged the bottom for a while. It came out after a few minutes, and went to the other side. I eventually got it to the boat after 20 mins to see a ray about 4-5 foot wingspan and I cut it free. Rays often take mullet. You know its a ray when it stops moving and hugs the bottom. Thats when you stop gettig excited, and get that sinking feeling....oh noooooo
Andrew
you raise an interesting issue,
does it depending on how illegal it is or the impacts of the activity?
what is worse, leaving a set line overnight or fishing well over your bag limit? both illegal, which has most impact, is one more socially acceptable than the other?
it seems the author of this thread was/is unaware of the laws, and this has now been pointed out.
the author of another thread knows the laws, knows he is breaking the laws and coudn't give a rats arse, and has demonstrated this in more than one thread
maybe this is where the difference is
i personally don't excuse either, but there is a big difference between making a mistake and openly breaking the regulations
cheers

I dont know how he did it but this original post in this thread has been edited/changed! I read it myself! How come everyone is talking about the illegalities of a set line if its not mentioned in the original post, something FISHY goin on here!
The original post is edited as the poster has got scared by all the stuff here written about its illegalities.
Ouch... the Broncos! newbies were crap at defence
Flatzie
Guys, here is the ockamans post on his thread on the 30th. So this current thread is the second re illegal set lines.
"Hey guys do you think if i got a fish on a line left over night it would still be on the line in the afternoon bcuz i did it tonight with a small mullet hoping to get a jewie or somthing good so what do u think it would get off or still be on"
Thanks Flatzie,
How he changed it I have no idea. Perhaps he should give Ice some computer lessons and then everyone could be in the clear!!
guys
i edited a post the other night and there is no notation on the new post..
i thought it was because i edited it within about 1 minute of posting but maybe its the norm now...
heres a question for all the people who know.....
is a rod in a rodholder considered a set line ? and deemed illegal....
if so how can one person fish 3 lines/rods in a blue zone and 2 in a yellow....mmmm
ive had police, dpi and fisheries pull up beside me for a check when ive had 3 rods out and nothings been said....
