freshwater set lines these are deemed as the common set line used in freshwater, but any line thats unattended would be considered as a set line..
All those dudes who leave their rods unattended sometimes overnight with livies in the Nerang River(from their private pontoons) are obviously openly flaunting the law. See plenty of them every time I take a run up that river !!
Fisheries cant be too serious about policing it aye !!

25cm Mullet, live I'm assuming, overnight on a set line?
Any chance that the mullet swam it's self around the pylons, eventually died, then was picked apart by something much smaller?
If you were sitting with the rod when it was struck, and fought it until it snapped the line, there's probably a better chance of people on here IDing what it was.
I am sure the original question related to a set line in coochin creek,it also refered to a line class as well and from memory bait was live mullet,I have looked at the other thread mentioned and it wasnt that one. This thread has been edited without showing it.
Now as for illegal practices,I agree whole heartedly with shanec and rat king that ILLEGAL is ILLEGAL.Many here want another member banned for stupid and ILLEGAL activities yet somehow this thread is a joke??
In no way do I condone ILLEGAL fishing activities by anyone so lets see some consistancy. No this member should not be banned either in my opinion, lets hope he has learned from the responses here.

If you always do what you've always done
You'll always get what you've always got
Theres no 2 ways if but or maybes it IILEGAL..Shame you wernt caught mate, people like you give the honest fisher person a bad name..The rules are in place to help increase sustainability, and its turkeys like you who brake the law and then pipe up and say theres no fish around like there used to be..Mark my words mate you and people like you will and do deserve to get caught!
I agree that this was poor form however I dont think banning members is a solution. I believe it proves nothing and takes away the opportunity for the guy in question to learn more about fishing and in a round about way could actually increase the likelihood of illegal fishing going on in order to snare a feed. Recently people have done the wrong thing granted (and I think exaggerated their actual catches), and people were justified in their anger, thats why I said what I did earlier in this thread when some made a joke of this particular activity.
The green filth do not differentiate between levels of illegality, they see a rec fisho doing the wrong thing and it is ammo for them to fire back at us regardless of 'how' illegal it is. We have to be seen to be above reproach on sites such as this because the weakness in the govt will fold to the green scourge at any opportunity, so we just cannot give the vermin an excuse to aim at us.
Personally, I now believe that posts that imply illegal activity has taken place should be immediately deleted and verified with the author (edited if neccessary), before going on a public forum. I realise that member condemnation is a solid indication that the majority do not condone the bahaviour, but I reckon the tree huggers would not read past the topic in question to read the replies.
Hopefully a few people have learnt lessons lately, everyone can get on with life and catch some quality fish the right way.
Just my 10 cents....
Shane
I now believe that posts that imply illegal activity has taken place should be immediately deleted and verified with the author and then reported..im studying to become a QBFP officer and i cant wiat to be one.
Yes he did wrong - but all you people on high moral ground - as if you have never done anything wrong, or broke the law?? I am NOT excusing what he has done - but blimey......
YOu have never driven over the speed limit? Reversed out of your own driveway onto a public road perhaps? Flashed your lights to other traffic after seeing a police radar?
I could get on my high moral ground - and tell you how wrong, how bad you are.
I work in an intensive care unit, and retrieve road trauma victims by road, rotary wing in a helicopter ort fixed wing - and see broken familys and F*&Ked up lives from people breaking road rules EVERY SINGLE DAY!!! - yet I bet >50% of you do it, and justify it in some way..
I guess what I am saying is - YES, wrong has been done - but none of us are perfect..
Do you think 40 people repeating the same garb on how bad, how immoral he is - is helping the situation? Making him feel any better? Likely to feel he can ask questions in the future? No - he will prolly just keep doing what he is doing in other fishing techniques - in fear of being shit on or shot down again...
I wouldnt dream of doing that to you, telling you 40 times how bad and immoral you were, 'when you wrap your car around a pole, and loose your legs - cause you were speeding or sending that all important text, or rolling that smoke at the wheel...
Some people here do show lack luster for our precious resource and the rules that protect it, but increasingly, people also show lack luster for each other on this site - be it a fishing report or a question they ask....... please - just think what positive thing you have to offer before you type......
Hey uglyfish,
I think you have a right to state your point of view and good luck to you in trying to be a Fisho.
If you are good at taking the high ground maybe you could start hanging around the sand pumping jetty(where fisheries laws are openly, blatently flaunted every day and telling all those new australians about what undersize fish laws are(hope you can fight or defend against a knife attack). I know of one guy who threw another blokes bucket of undersize fish into the drink , he was attacked with a knife(copped a stab in the leg) and ended up throwing the bloke into the drink and flogging his mate, who also attacked him(great place to fish). They think they have a right to keep everything since they are charged to fish there(perhaps whoever it is that draws the revenue from this charge should also have to police what goes on there). Fisheries are gutless and inneffective in this regard as they have received many ,many reports of what goes on there but do nothing, no ball bag !!
I think Braddles also has a right to say what he has. Fair comment!!
