    lure colours

everyone has there fav colours for different fish and types of fishing, i deffinently do think tht colours make a differece in MOST situations but what bout when u are fishing deep water say 40m or further...
take snapper fishin for example the nuc chook is probebly one of the most popular plastics going around aswell as pink shine and pearl white but do they really make a differnce?
with the nuc chook being such a bright colour what does it look like 40m under the surface since red is supposed to be the first colour to fade under about 10m.
also how can such a bright colour show up in deeper water since there is no or very little light to reveal it?
so wat do u think make a certain colour appealing to deepwater fish and why.
it could be 2 different shades of grey (or watever colour they show up as) to have it outfish another colour...
i look forward to hearing some differnt opinions

Personally I only fish natural colour lures. I don't like the fluoro yellows and pinks unless targeting Flathead which will just about hit anything thrown in their faces. I try to check out what Baitfish are around the area fished before actually throwing a Plastic out and match the colour, say the fish are feeding on Prawn I will use a lure that matches the closest to it. You probably know this already but if not that is my opinion.

    Thanks Tom

Hi; I have done a lot of scuba divng on the great barrier and elsewhere. Colours have all disappeared to the human eye when you get below 25m - sometimes shallower, and all divers will tell you that the best colours are seen in the top 5m below the surface. Same applies for coloured lines and red is the first to go followed by pinks and mauves. You will see shading of colours (greys etc) down deep but certainly no colour unless luminous.
Lures really depend 90% on action and the deeper you fish them the harder they are to get good action other than sink and draw using braid to stay in touch.
