    Re: Fuel in Queensland

i hear it's nice in kabul at the moment, little bit warm at this time of year though.

point i'm making is that even though i pay sh#tloads of tax, i understand that australia is a pretty awesome place to live compared to most other places in the world and so i don't mind. our fuel and energy are still reasonably cheap compared to most other developed countries (other than the good old land of apple pie of course). governments have been selling off assets to raise cash for years.

It's fascinating that The Borg said billions needed to be found and jobs would be on the block if necessary.

Anna said no jobs will go, fuel subsidy is safe, everything will be super.

All the idiots out there (50.something percent of the population) said Borg was a liar, Anna was telling the truth.

Guess what? They got it all ar$e about. If The Borg knew what was happening, and Anna DIDN'T, she is proving she is an idiot. If she did know, she was lying.

So Anna Bligh is either an idiot or a liar.

I actually agree that some State run Operations are better in Private hands. But she told and is telling more porkies than I've had hot dinners.

how about we get to pay the same rego as you guys...that would be fairer but she is increasing that by 22% approx.

Not complaining about taxes as such just where it goes once it is collected.. Some things look better in private hands as they were very ineffecient in the public domain but were left to run down by sucessive governments as well. Problem is they are selling and assett and the capital isn't going back to pay off an old debt but instead used to gera up for a new promise. That can only go on fr so long till no physical assets are left and the price moderating ability of them in power, water and sewerage becomes totally free market- USA style where it goes belly up

Hmmm Kabul --- I like a bit of shooting just not with my lunch daily or at me!!. Aust is great but we are doing a fair bit to take some of the greatness out of it.

Tim hit the nail right on the head !!

Alot of people fell for her (Anna) crap.... no they will learn the hard way !

Yes i think it might be true that Some assests will be better off run by the "private sector", but at what point did she (Anna) ask the people of QLD (who pay for these services, with fees and taxes) if she could put it all on the market ?

    Re: Fuel in Queensland

When I first moved to Queensland in 1992 rego was much cheaper in QLD then NSW (I couldn't wait to get the PO box) and we were allowed to use a hose.

Now...the last time I registered the Kingswood in NSW it was about $530 per year. In Queensland it's closer to the $900 mark.
In NSW I could wash it with the garden hose. In QLD we cannot use a hose and we live in a sub tropic climate... Go figure.

Bring back Joh and Russ I say
I intend on living for-ever....so far so good

    Re: Fuel in Queensland

    Hi all
Timi I agree with you mate-- But we all know she's been telling half truths all along and only letting everyone know what she's really been up to after the fact.

If I could see the price of petrol taking a downward slide then let the tax go and maybe our petrol prices would seem fairer.

If the RACQ is saying it will add around $170 to the average cost each year then double that for us as we run two cars to Brisbane each week, on average 1250 klm's combined. THANKS ANNA

REGISTRATION-- WE HAVE 3 CARS A BOAT AND TRAILER-- THANKS ANNA

If petrol is cheaper in NSW and they do not have the fuel tax then someone please explain to me why we are paying more with the tax???
You would think that not having the tax in theory would lower the price of fuel but instead it is going to creep up along with everything else. WHY???????????????

As I heard last night no fuel tax means we will be paying more for everything that is delivered by road, paying more for an electrician to come out to our home, more for a builder to build our house and the list goes on. Don't forget we are funding ANNA with 3 rego hikes in twelve months as well.

As far as I am concerned (and my opinion only )is that Anna is funding her government at the expense of the average working person by taking away any little benefit she can.
I will create jobs-- how ANNA at the expense of those that have already got one. Hitting everyone straight in the hip pocket where it hurts most for the things people need most.

Registration, electricity-- how long does the average person have to pay for ANNA blighs S%%&&***F up.

As was heard on the radio a day or two ago-- We should all come to a grinding holt and have a minutes silence-- reason--Queensland is dying.
    THANKS ANNA

    Re: Fuel in Queensland

Is your Govt going down the same road as the clowns in NSW? In their wisdom they have decided that straight unleaded will shortly be taken off the menu in NSW and replace by E10. Great for boatowners (like hell). Means the fule companies get richer cause we will have to buy Premium Unleaded for our boats..
Gezz I am glad that we have all these clever bastards looking out for us, NOT

    Today
    Thur 4/6/09

    Gold Coast
    ULP @ $1.089lt
    Diesel @ $1.059...

    Sydney
    ULP @ $1.049
    Diesel @ $1.109

So us QLDer's are suppose to be getting the 8c fuel subsidy discount but Sydney is cheaper by 4c/lt.... Go figure

I can see why the state govenment want to pull the plug on the scheme... The only people saving money, or making money is the oil companies themselves, by not passing on the whole 8c....

    Re: Fuel in Queensland

I think some people are missing the point on the public asset sale. Yes some things are better in Private hands.

However that's not the point/debate. The point/debate should be why is she doing it? Why? because she has managed the State's finances like any good ALP government does - by totally destroying them.

What are we going to sell come the end of this State Gov't current term to cover the debt that they run up over the next three years? ANS: Nothing.

There is nothing left to sell. So they will bring on higher taxes in the face of higher inflation, more debt owed to "nice" military dictatorships like China and the Middle East, and the continued export of our jobs to SE ASIA thanks to ETS. Any worker who votes for the ALP thinking that they will protect them need their head examined.

Oh and for those who don't mind the fuel subsidy being removed. The hike in fuel will just be the beginning of fuel going up. The world is meant to be in GFC. Yet the price of oil is still going up. KRudd's solution to this? Add a carbon tax (that will save the planet apparently, by turning oil into a "golden goose" for the gov't) to the price of petrol. Welcome to KRudd and Goose economics 101.

Some people learn the hard way. It's a pitty they drag others down with them.

    Re: Fuel in Queensland

The hard way.. Mmm,, that's comical...

Sydney & Victoria have no fuel subsidy scheme yet ULP in those two states are constantly cheaper then QLD...

Please Fuzzy, how is it were learning the hard way...

Australia is not in a recession, and third party economist (from ANZ, West Pack, CBA and so on) have openly stated it was the government's Stimulus package that has helped prevent Australia from entering a recession...

Australia still has a positive economical growth, all be-it it is only .4%... But every other 1st world, modern economy has retracted into the negative figures...

Australia also has the lowest deficit out off all the 1st world modern economies...

I also remember the Liberal Party selling off major Australian assets, like Telstra...

Anyone arguing its Labour's fault surely must have there head wedge up there arse....

don't worry, Anna won't lead QLD for much longer... If the LNP can hold it together, then John Paul Langbroek will be QLD next leader
