Gary Howard Sabre & GeForce Rods
I'm buying a new boat rod and really like the Gary Howard Sabre 7' 8~15kg and 15~24kg from The Tackle Warehouse in Camp Hill/ Coorparoo. However, I noticed on the Gary Howard website that they also have a series of rod called Geforce which sound fantastic. Does any one know what benefits or disadvantages the Geforce series would have over the Sabre series.
Target species are Snapper, Tuna, Makeral etc
I will be matching the overhead rod with a Shimano TLD20 or Tyrnos 20

Dont know what the difference between them is, but I have a G Force and love it. I have it matched with a Okuma 20 size with level wind for bottom bashing and use a Tyrnos 20 with it for trolling. Its a really nice rod mate and are quite good value for money.

Not sure if we are talking about the same model of Geforce or not, the one I looked at today was $436 and the Sabre is on special for $329. If these are the value rods how much do the expensive ones cost?
Thanks for your input, I was worried about trolling with braid but your idea fixes that by using two reels, one with braid and one with mono

Re: Gary Howard Sabre & GeForce Rods
Would be the same rod mate, I paid $350ish for mine a couple of yrs ago. To me value is relative mate, a rod that works exactly how I want it is better value than a $100 piece of s*%t. Mine is the 10-15kg rod, at about 7ft long.
Whether its the same rod or not I dont know but we are def talking about the same range of rods mate.

Re: Gary Howard Sabre & GeForce Rods
I believe that the GForce blanks are better quality than the sabre blanks (dont quote me though!)....hence the difference in price. I am running a tiagra 16 on the GForce 8-15kg...beautiful rod, heaps of power, quality components and light. BTW the model i have is 6 foot.

Why not give Gary a ring and ask him. His workshop is at Brendale and he is a very approachable bloke, not full of BS as some are prone too. His phone number is (07) 3881 3550. He would be glad to talk to you about rod construction/components/performance and blank technology. He uses many different blank manufacturers in his custome rods, as well as having some of his range specifically 'rolled' for his own designs. A word of caution though..he wont undercut his retailers for price, so just stick to the technical issues.
