    12 mile Gladstone

Mate went out for a night fish at the 12 mile last week and picked up these nice grassies and I went out for a day fish last friday and could only pick up a couple of tuskies. The better one on the 20 ltr drum. There was a few boats around and all were moving around quite a bit.
At other times the 12 mile fishes good during the day time and can produce some really nice fish and other times zilch.
Night time is usually better but some nights on a big run can produce nothing
The point is the area goes hot and cold and just cause the fishing at a given mark is lousy one day doesnt mean it is always lousy.
Its a case of time in the market and timing the market.

Was contemplating going out there Friday night when conditions were perfect but only have a 15ft console and have never been out that far before...especially at night so i wussed out. I know it is named 12 mile, but 12 mile from where? North entrance? Gatcombe head? How long does the run take in say 1m seas doing 20knts? If its not too much to ask can u PM some starter marks. Cheers

12 miles from mouth of Boyne. Theres small patches nearly the whole length of curtis and facing all about the same distance out but the 12 mile/ snapper patch area is supposed to be the larger of the patches

    Check your PMs

Last year the 12 mile produced some beautiful fish
Large Grassy's were the most prominent catch with fish going to 4 kg
Like Mick say's fires at times. It also produce a couple reds for us over the last couple years including a 10.5 kg model.

Mick helped me on to these specimens

I'm not going in the comp this year. My young blokes coming down and we are going to head out around Wistari for a fish.
Going to leave the Boyne Tannum hook- up to the visitors
Heading out to the Gemfields myself the last week of the school holidays. We usually go out to Tommahawk creek.
I see a virgin claim for sale on ebay.$5500. You should buy it then I'd have somewhere to dig

Thats why I love going out to Harts Range chasing stones. The digging is easier and the rewards are better.
This was a fortnight worth of digging at the tommahawk creek sapphire fields Not all of the ones from Tommahawk creek cut good stones either. Those cut stones I emailed you a photo off are only part of a fortnights digging out at Harts range.
What do you call a black sapphire . Do you mean spinel or a star sapphire
