Mounting Location for Lowrance Speed/Temperature Transducer

    G'day all,

I currently have my boat off the water undergoing a bit of serious maintenance.

One of the many jobs I want to get done is to fit a Lowrance Speed/Temperature transducer to the transom.

Unfortnately, I do not have any mounting instructions to explain where abouts this thing is supposed to be mounted in relation to the bottom of the hull.

I was hoping that someone may be able to provide a bit of an explanation or a photo to try and show the best location for the thing.

I plan on welding a piece of aluminium (60x30x3mm) C-channel to the transom to attach the transducer to.

I have included a few photos to try and show what I'm up to.

Does the transducer need to sit slightly lower than the bottom of the hull or would it still be OK if I mounted it up a little higher like I'm holding it in the photos? I fish alot of timbered/rocky areas and I'm concerned that I may knock the transducer off if its too low....

    Thanks guys,
    Roo.

Tilt to parallel the trailing edge of the hull or keep it parallel to the ground but then set height to have only 1/2 -1/3 of the paddle vanes below hull level.

    cheers fnq

    Thanks for that fnq.

I'll have to mount it a bit lower down than what I've shown.

    Cheers,
    Roo.
