    Unbreakable

Was in my local Tackle World Store today ; looking at graphite rods.
Picked out a nice 10 - 25 kg rod and was checking it out ; when i was approched by a saleman. He was telling me how good these rods are and doing the salesman thing.
His sales pitch was that they were unbreakable.
He told me to hold the tip ; first runner area and with the butt HE applied pressure to the rod and you guessed it IT BROKE
He looked at me all stupid like and said he had better take it out the back.
I left shortly after as i didn't feel very comfortable

    Cheers Graham

There is a fine line between fishing and just standing on the shore like an idiot

I wonder how much deeper the ocean would be without sponges

what brand of rod was it?

    Re: Unbreakable

doesn't matter what brand it was, could have been a glass uglystick i refuse to go shopping there now because there is only really (MOST of the time) kids working there who are only sort of interested in fishing under 19yrs old and couldn't sell fish to a seafood restaurant.

    I strongly agree with you.

When you manage to pick an off chance that a manager is working, it's not too bad, but those moments are very far and few between. It's hard to take fishing advice from a kid who still has to ask mum for permission to go fishing.

The first post said it was Tackleworld. Don't think BCF was mentioned.

    spot on Steve

I was at the cannon Hill BCF the other day, looking around to update my data base. A young fella Garrett came along, super informed, not knobbish at all, really into fishing, gave me some excellent advice and his product knowledge was excellent, listened to me to understand the kind of fishing I'm into, swapped some good stories, had a laugh, showed me some new product, he knew up front i was just looking, but he was happy to spend the time and I'd certainly go back and buy from him.

Let's not be too quick to tar anyone with stereotype brushes, there are some good kids out there.

    cheers

    Re: Unbreakable

Very funny ........ certainly a ooops moment

Aside from that ..... an unbreakable graphite rod What sort of action would you get out of it ????? ......... may as well go back 20 years ago & just use fibreglass.
Give a man a fish & he will eat for a day !
    Teach him how to fish
& he will sit in a boat - & drink beer all day!
