Dear NPA Supporter,
Ask the NSW Government to confirm new Marine Parks - Over 2000 e-lobby forms needed!
Your urgent help is needed to ensure the future of NSW's marine life.
Do you like to swim, dive, boat or fish in our oceans? Marine parks and their fully protected sanctuary areas will help ensure we continue to enjoy these activities now and for generations to come.
In NSW we are only a third of the way to reaching proper protection for our oceans. The Torn Blue Fringe is NPA's landmark report that sets out to the NSW Government how to build our marine parks and sanctuary network. While South Australia has just created 19 new marine parks, NSW has not announced any new marine parks since 2005. It's imperative the report's proposals are implemented immediately!
Our target is to generate over 2000 email forms to send onto the Ministers in charge in the next two weeks. So please take 2 minutes to fill out our form, then forward it onto your friends and family. Show the decision makers that healthy oceans are a priority for our future!

Thanks for helping make Blue the New Green!

Is it possible to have a link posted up (not the torn blue report that has already been rejected by state govt for the area mentioned) that indicates we are geting a marine park?I have looked high and low, spoken with one of the head honcho's in the NPWS in this area and it apears that this area (Far Nth coast NSW) is just about at the bottom of priorities for needing a park or protection zones. My bigest fear is that we are giving these people momentum by fighting something that is not actualy there,it is important to remember that the fishing fraternity has had our arses handed back to us on a plate every time we've gone to battle with these bastards.

The link for their e lobby is http://www.marine.org.au/elobbyform.htm
and yes Banshee it is promoting "Torn Blue Fringe".
Nicky Hammond is the NPA's marine parks program manager.
I would suggest you all give her an earful, help her spend her time arguing with irate fishermen rather than getting in the ear of politicians.

I am not aware of any stoush fishers have had with NPA or the outcomes but I only became aware of them because of their call to lock up the coastline from Ballina to Iluka.
As a result I emailed them and expressed my own views on the proposal and received a lot of material trying to convince me I was wrong.
So a good tactic in my view is tie them up trying to convert us to be green believers.
But they are a well resourced group with a long history ( according to there own material) and they appear to be lobbying ministers directly and quite obviously have not abandoned Torn Blue Fringe.
NPWS may or may not be aware of activities directed to cabinet ministers.
Though I take your point on the possibility that attacking their proposal might be fanning the embers of a dying fire.
But just as true is the issue of allowing them too much head start.
