Headed out from Manly through Sth Passage Bar on low tide around sunrise with usual suspect Adam and a mate of mine Gaz from Adelaide who has never caught much more than whiting in his life. Bar was a bit sloppy but beyond that conditions were fab.
Headed straight to the 35's chasing snapper and on first drift Adam and I both land keeper squire. This drift went quiet so we moved and found a good show and on first drop landed a couple more 40cm+ squire. Kept repeating this drift and every time had double and triple hookup's with Gaz getting some great action as a newbie. He soon got the hang of it. Lucky he had circle hooks so all he had to do was wind.
Ended up with our bag limit of squire within a few hours, most between 40 and 45cm. Threw at least 20+ back for another day. Tried to find the bigger models but couldn't seem to track em down this time.
Had our feed in the esky by 1pm so pulled the pin and headed back through glassed out conditions to the ramp. Fish filleted and boat cleaned by sunset.
Great day on the water and good to see a newbie get a good work out in 70m of water.
Cheers
Dave
