more pixels will give you a finer, more detailed image, thats about it
its like comparing analogue TV to HD TV, HD you get a finer, sharper image because of the higher pixel count over the same screen size.
Hi Guy's.....What noticeable difference is there between (320 x 234 pixels), and 640 x 480 pixels. Just wondering if it's worth the extra $200. Screens are both the same size and everything else is the same bar the pixels
Any help would be appreciated
Cheers Phil

In theory you are correct but on small screen displays like 5-7" marine electronics displays there's not much in it. Do not put too much emphasis on the pixel count alone but rather the brand, performance and back up (if needed). There's a few threads on this site where you'll quickly see who gives good back up.
Scott, agreed. 42" plasma lage LCD video panels you need high pixel count which equals higher definition. However look out for "pixel wash" which is when the colours wash out in direct sunlight. This is mot importat with fish finders and even plotters.
good luck, there's a heap to choose from.
4x the resolution. Worth every cent if you are serious about finding fish and structure.
Basically vertical pixels are all that count. If you look at a 100 metre section of the water column with 100 pixels, each pixel represents 1 metre, with a 400 pixel screen this is reduced to 25cm's. This means that a fish of 25cm depth should show on the screen with 400 pixel but probably won't on the 100 pixel unit.
There is more too it, quality of the software and the power of the transducer, but pixels are a significant factor in finding fish.
Thanks for the comments guy's. It was more for my Gps than anything though
My fishfinder has a high pixel count so all good on that side
Thanks again Phil
