    gezzza,

I have the "raider" version of the same rod, 13'6, with an alvey butt, with the rod seat close to the bottom of the rod. I use an overhed (shimano tld star)on mine with platypus low stretch 20lb mono.

Its a new rod as I didnt want to miss out when I saw it in mossops at the gabba and I found out that snyder were not going to produce any more rods.

I have only used it twice and so far its the business, you should have no problems casting a slug on it at all.

What got me interested in the rod was a mate of mine who I beach and rock fished with for years bought one.

After he bought it I swear his catch rate improved markedly. I have seen him pull in kingies, Aust samon, snapper etc from the rocks from where we used to fish off the south coast of NSW, no jewies but the rod never seemed to struggle.

I think you have bought a good all round rod, that will serve you well for years.

    regards
    Honda

I use exactly the same combo as Gezza, also with a TLD 15 Star
    loaded with 8kg braid.

This rod has landed heaps of Bull sharks around the 50kg mark with ease in the Maroochy river. It will certainly do abything you plan on doing without raising a sweat.

Snyder rods are tops in my book! Hope you enjoy yours.
