    Allison Boats gone Alloy

    G'day Guys,

Some interesting to come out of the Sanctuary Cove boat show.

Allison Boat Company, renowned for their fibreglass boats, have now swapped to manufacturing plate aluminium boats.

Allison fibreglass as we know it has now stopped production.
The moulds are being sold, so the boats may re-appear, just not under the Allison name.

Bruce told me they are going to manufacture a range from 4.6m up to around 6.25m at this time.

He also said this is a sign of the times and a lot of people were asking for aluminium boats, whereas the fibreglass orders had dropped off.

Given the quality of their fibreglass boats, the aluminium range should be very impressive as well.

A bold move, and I wish them all success.

    Cheers

    Pete

I agree lippa you could go a long way to find a better boat builder than col and there was no doubting there abilty to build a glass boat it was sencond to none i think you will find one day they will become collecters items. I'am looking foward to seeing there first boat does anyone have a idea on when that will be and who will be selling them.

amazing..I wonder why the change..cannot compete in the fibreglass market.

I didn't ask when the first boat will be released.
Bruce said they are finishing the last few boats in the factory now, and then will convert to alloy fabrication.

I would guess 2 - 3 months before we see anything.

The new boats are being distributed by the existing dealer network.

Greg, Bruce said it was simply to do with a demand thing.
People keep asking for plate boats and the fibreglass orders have dwindled.

    Cheers

A brave move and I wish them well it must have been a hard decision to drop a well respected product. At least they are adapting to a changing market I hope people support their new product. If only bigger companies had such vision and listened to the market demands

Saw that i would have to say him saying the glass boats becoming collecters items is a bit wild while i think they are not a bad rig they are no hains hunter od cruise craft but i which them all the best as we need as many boat builders as possaible so the market stay competive.
