Did he mention how much oil they burn between services?
I have no opinion either way cause I've never driven one - just know they are burning it. I'd be checking around first.

Slightly off topic, but has anyone been in one of the new 70 series wagons? Would you consider one of these rawds?

GXL on road 78k approx,VX 83k.All the good deals are on demo's low k's below 500.
It becomes more attractive as they are offering approx 45k for my vechicle.
They will also offer finance at approx 4%

You can try asking on lcool. Supposed to be owners only but lots of guys join up to ask about stuff before buying. Many 200 series owners on there.

Petrols are a LOT cheaper. I think people are probably getting GXL petrols for $60k or near enough, on the road.

i priced gxl cruiser last week. best deal i could get was $69,990 drive away (petrol). Prado was $59,000 for a diesel auto.

i couldnt go past the new patrol. $53,990 driveaway with auto, bullbar, spotties and tow bar. with a 50% tax rebate (for small business) makes it great value.
Toyota are obviously great cars but seemed a little overpriced considering the deals nissan are doing

My boss's 200 series used 1 litre of oil in the first 10,000 klm.
I have driven his cruiser after some mods and it is an absolute beast for a diesel.
    I would say yes.
Just as a sidenote, when he bought his he got the best deal from madills at noosa, the dealers in brisbane claimed they couldnt match their deal?

    Cheers Craig

Would anyone care to elaborate as to the reasoning for them using oil?

I've heard they use it but no reason why.

    Thanks

Re: 200 Series Lancruiser Yes or No

Its our belief that the oil consumption is caused by expansion and contraction of the all alloy motor.
It is our experience this is fairly common in engines made exclusively from alloy.

I'm 100% certain you could do better than $69990 for the petrol 200. About a year ago they were doing some for $60k driveaway - and that was an advertised price. They may not do that price nowadays but surely better than $65k if you offered it to them (no good just asking what their best price is).

Anyway, I'm sure the patrol is going to be very good too.

    Craig,

Are you really saying the engines are made exclusively from alloy?

Surely they would be cast iron sleeves??? If so, expansion and contraction of the cylinder would be the same, would it not?

Not picking just trying to understand the oil loss.
