    Some dams missed out again!!!!!

    Massive downpours in the SE Qld but some of our hardest hit dams have missed out again, well so far anyway. Let's hope the rain forecast for Fri & Sat is spread a little wider.

    Somerset = overflowing, 60cm over spillway
    NorthPine = overflowing, 17cm over spillway
    Hinze = overflowing, if the guage is right it's 1.30 mts over the spillway
    Wivenhoe = raisen 40cm in the last 24hrs (but it's a bloody big dam) virtually all that has come from Somerset releases
    Macdonald = overflowing
    Borumba = overflowing

    But the bad news

    Cressbrook = risen only 5cm in 24hrs, only about 9% full
    Bjelke-Petersen (Murgon) = hasn't risen a cm in the last 24hrs and almost nothing flowing into the dam, now down to 7%
    Boondooma = hasn't risen a cm either allthough a little water is flowing down the Stuart arm, now at 45%
    Waruma = hasn't had a rise and is still at 2%
    Cania = nothing either, down to 6%

    It seems like the Gold Coast, Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast Hinterland through to Gympie are the only places in sth Q that get heavey rain these days.

    Mike, The Wivenhoe inflows are not restricted to just Somerset releases. The Brisbane River is in flood at O'Shea's. Northbrook Creek broke it's banks. There is plenty of other water going in. Educated guesses are that Wivenhoe may fill this weekend.

    Hi Mike i just looked at the weather radar it looks like the rain may do a circle it is starting to pushinland and back north in a circular motion with the high down south so the inland dams may still get some

    Thanks Dale
    The auto gauges on the Bris Riv at Linville & Devon Hills are showing nothing coming down from there but it shows a little from Gregor Ck and some more from Esk Ck.
    Just checked and there's another 30cm gone into Big W between noon and 8.30pm. That makes 65cm since 5pm Wed.

    This is a great site http://www.bom.gov.au/hydro/flood/qld/rain_river.shtml
    Just click on the catchment you wish to view, then pick a spot along the river and click on "Plot" for a read out of water flows for the past 5 days. You can even follow the progress of floodwaters as they move down the rivers.
    Cheers

    I can't see W filling up this weekend.

    With the rain gone, the water levels in the waterways feeding W will drop fairly quickly.

    There's water been coming down all feeder creeks including the Brisbane River into Wivenhoe.

    There's a stack of pics from around Big W at http://www.sweetwaterfishing.com.au/...c,4025.15.html

    There should still be some residual flows. Looking good for a great winter for the bass at Wivenhoe this year.

    Some might have missed out, but they can have some of ours. (Bellinger River NSW)

    Third major flood this year. Coming from a farm at Warwick where we had 11 years of drought, it is surely a contrast.

    Think that there is too much waste in all the systemS, especially during flood times.

    Believe that lots of the flood outflows could be better utilised to recharge the inland system. If only the state governments could get over possession of their water.

    The flows and systems belong to all Australians, and in such a dry climate, we could and should be better utilising the excess.

    Hope everyone is safe and well during this event.

    Regards
