Beach Fishing
Hi All
Im moveing to the sunshine coast in two weeks from Sydney.Going to be liveing in North lakes.
Can any of you give me some pointers as to where in the area I could go for a fish off the beach,I have just sold my boat here in Sydney did not want to tow it all the way to brisbane so now have to fish from the beach for a bit untill I get a new one.
What fish do you find in this area im going to be liveing in ? Do you get big sharks and rays off the beach,I did allot of beach fishing in South Africa mainly for sharks and rays.....they give a good fight.
Well look forward to any advice you may be willing to share. Please if any one is going for a fish and dose not mind some company I would love to tag along as im cluless to the the area I may need some showing around.
cheers

Re: Beach Fishing
Hey Meg-a-Bite,
Are you mainly interested in fishing off the beach???? Assuming sand and surf....
If you just want to fish landbased there are plenty of spots not too far from home that will get you onto sharks and rays but will also get you whiting, bream, flattie and a myriad of other scaley thingies.

Re: Beach Fishing
Thanks for the info Shane I do enjoy any form of fishing and Rock and beach fishing is one of my preferred means of fishing;off shore game fishing is what I have done most of when I was back in South Africa.I had a big 6m Cat and spent most weekend looking for big game fish like Marlin Tuna Wahoo sailfish and so on.As I dont have a boat yet and will definitely be getting one once setteld in QLD,I will be doing more land based fishing for now,so just trying to get more info on the areas and fish that one can target.
cheers

Re: Beach Fishing
Bribie Island is only a short drive from Northlakes and offers both estuary and beach fishing. There is a lot of landbased spots to catch Flatty, Bream, Whiting and even the odd tailor to name a few species. And there is even a few freindly Ausfish members here to...

Re: Beach Fishing
Mate,
Have a look at the previous ensuary posts, get to know some of the local places and spots that others have caught fish regularly. Once done I suggest you jump onto google earth and have a sticky beak at what the area holds.
Between the posts and google earth it should point you in the right direction. Oh and don't be afraid to ask more questions, there will always be someone to offer some advice.
As TT said........"And there is even a few freindly Ausfish members here to..."
