how would you present an octopus for bait?

well im stuck on moreton at this present time after leaving the main land the sarv checked my sandy pots to have only 4 crabs and 5 very fat occies there quite large so do you recon its worth riging them up for snapper? i usually catch all my snap on pike but dont have any and am fishing the rocks at around 2am for a nice wet snapper sesh, so how would you rig such a bait? 10/O in and out or what? there not as smelly as pike but look inviting

    Jack
I just cut a piece of tentacle ( i like to use the skinny bit) about 70-80mm long and just put a 6/0 or 7/0 through the top part, leave a tail to waft around.works for me.
when you have used up all the wriggly bits just cut nice thick chunks to suit your hook size.... great bait for big fish.

Either an 8/0 with a tentacle on a running sinker rig or a 6/0 on top and 8/0 snelled together
