New Work 4x4 Cant Decide

Updating the work ute, currently have a mazda Bravo 2600 dual cab 4x2

I am after a decent tray back (will be putting large tool boxes on) at least 3 seater(dont want a dual cab) 4x4 (wont be used for serious offroad but for towing the od boat around)

been looking at the Auto Navara king cab RX diesel currently $31990 + on roads

and the navara D22 4x4 single cab for $23K, Is the RX that much better?

what else is there in the vacinity of the navaras?

Garry, the RX D40 will be a better tow rig, as the D22 is a detuned 2.5lt, so you going to missing out on a lot off KW and Torque.... Also if you going to be driving it on a daily basis, the D40 is more comfortable...

Economy is the same similar for both...
As you know, auto is a delight to tow with, D40 get the auto, the D22 doesn't

For a straight 4wd ute I don't think anyone's beating mitsubishi at the moment on price or warranty.

Do yourself a favour and google 'Navara D40 problems' before you buy one. I know there seem to be a lot of happy owners on this site - but that isn't my experience in the real world.

In fact google every brand - they all have their own little issues.

One that's across the board these days is the dual mass clutch issues - manual 4by's aren't what they used to be - esp for towing and esp in a laggy cr diesel.

MY STX (D40) is currently at nissan having the fuel rail, injectors and tubes replaced. Not sure what else they are doing with it. They have had it for 3 days now. The brakes on the d40 are also crap. Other than that, they are a nice car to drive..

the nissan is not quite as smooth on road as some of the others but they tow well and have plenty of grunt for their class
as a tradey vehicle they are in the top few until you go up the next step and size
a dual cab anything is the roughest riding 4x4 in any stable
do yourself a favour and do not even consider a mitsubishi, we have them at work and they are always getting work done to them, some major
out of the 20 odd we have none of them will be replaced with another bitsaremissing they are just too inconsistant, mostly bad

of the lot, nissen and tojo are on the shelf above the others for Joe average

G'day,

Look long and hard at Holden Colorado or Isuzu D-Max or the Toyota HiLux for towing capacity and loading capacity.

I think the D40 may have lower payload than the D22 - and this seems important to you. I have a current spec 2007 Holden Rodeo d/cab auto diesel that tows my 2 tonne boat pretty effortlessly but that's all the work it does.
