Worth fishing the bottom on Palm Beach reef?
Hi all,
Mackeral seem to be winding down (few schoolies still around), and I've been thinking about having a bottom fish on palm beach. I've been told it's a desert after being hammered for years, but this last week with the water being so clear i noticed a few shapes hanging around the inner reef, underneath the bait. I've fished the bottom there as a youngster and all I remember is catching a lot of those ugly red rock cod.
Is it worth trying to pick up the odd bream/squire/pearly one morning?
Otherwise I'll have to wait until I've got an EPIRB/GPS/sounder to hit one of the deeper reefs.
Cheers

I have been told Palmy reef is pretty silted up and nearly covered in sand.
A lot of sand is on the move, you can almost walk across the Talle Bar to Burleigh
