Apparently WD-40 has some oils in it that the fish seem to like.
Personally I would just use tuna oil or something similar as it would probably work better.

I always make sure its nowhere near my lures, and always wiped off my hands.

Whod have thought its an attractant? beats me.....I'll have to experiment with it now.

    Re: WD-40 and fishing

many of the old time bream fisherman (my grandfather and his mates specifically) used to dip their baits in Kero before they chsucked em out. reckoned it increased their catches ten fold. same with dipping the baits in aniseed oil (call that an old wives tail...then look at the base oil for most of the wiz bang fish attractants now). My only tip is to clean the fish quick smart after capture if you are using these methods. "everything old is new again"

    Cheers

Used it as a repellant in the Hichinbrook mangroves...we didn't reckon on the sandflies, and WD40 was the only thing in the boat we could use...it worked!
