Amanda and I got very excited and could not sleep well on Friday night. We woke up 30 minutes earlier than the alarm clock on saturday’s morning then started to drive to mooloolaba boat ramp at 4:45am. We jumped on the boat at 5.40am.
After traveling for about 10 minutes, we started to jig for livies. Robert found a nice spot, almost every drop down we hooked up at least 2 - 4 livies on the line.
After that, we headed back inshore but not much fish actions. Robert then started work his way out again.
Finally, we arrived at a spot and we started to hook up good size maori cods(with squid and bait fish) and pearl perch (with octo jig).
After a while, a estuary cod put my flimsy muscles to test - awkward enough I thought it was the bottom in the beginning. Robert insisted that it was a fish. For about a minute or more, I was having a tug war. Slowly after that, it started to lose its strength and finally I managed to wind it up.
Not long after that, we got another good size estuary cod. Both cods were caught with livies.
We headed back to the boat ramp at about 3pm - ended the day with two estuary cods, two mauri cods and a pearl perch.
Thanks to Smithy (SQCS) again for another great day out.
