Hi all, was wondering if anyone has been having any success chasing squid, i don,t normally chase them ,but thought i might give em a go, any advice on the right direction would be appreciated. I usually put in at wello pt. thanks , regrds .roy.

* get good squid jigs, small is better i.e. 2.0 - 3.0
* look for weed beds, if the squid are not there .. MOVE
* use a strong leader so u do not lose your good jigs to the weed
* squid can be caught any time of the day though i prefer dawn and dusk
* i usually squid at high tide
there is no need to strike, they will strike YOU. A slow-medium retrieve will do the trick. It will feel like you are bringing in a wet sock.
I was fishing over at Dunich last weekend and found them to be plentiful over there at the moment especially to the north of the barge terminal. Mate even got one on a small red pepper stick bait and small switch blade, so no need for a squid jig. Just look for some shallow sandy bottom water with weed beds and you should get a feed.

When they're feeding you can drop anything in front of them. We've caught them up at fitzroy on plastics, ockta jigs, bait and squid jigs lol. Make sure you net them and let them ink in the water before you boat them otherwise gets VERY messy VERY quickly lol
Here's one i prepared earlier only i didn't let it ink haha. Couldn't get the net in time so dropped him straight in the bucket and jammed the lid on

Are there any places they are at as of now that one can catch them from jetties or piers, if so which ones as I'm on the southside.
