Evinrude hose flush attachment

ok i know this is a bit of a wild stab in the dark but does anyone know where in brisbane you might be able to buy the attachment to join your hose to the flushing port on the newer evinrude engines?

If you're asking about an Etec, a hardware shop might be the best bet.

Threaded garden hose fitting screws in perfectly on a 50 Etec. Dunno about the bigger engines though, but got to be worth a try.

BRP want about $35 for the thing!

I take if you were after the screw in hose mounted attachment to the end of the motor that was in the model (that I personally had in the 2008 motor). I have found it at most suppliers, mainly hardware retailers like bunnings. Not that I trusted it too much. I preferred instead using the (motor flush) attachment to flush the motor instead. Even by just looking (at the capability of the ears flushing system) it seemed to get the motor flushing capability better by using the ears on the lower flusher rather than the hose attachment. Evinrude says no need to to run the motor when flushing- I preferred to use the external attachment (run the hose and kick over the motor) to run and flush the motor instead. And on a personal level I preferred the continual running jet of water coming from the cooling jet (?- cant remember what it is called) of the yamaha rather than the dribble and splutter from the etec. Would not really matter I think though- just personal preference.

Needless to say that after than less than a year later than buying the etec 115 2 stroke I have traded that boat (when trading I thought that I would only consider another etec but it was (my decision) to trade the boat with the motor as a package after deliberating between etec and evinrude am now the owner of a yamaha powered boat motor instead. I suppose you will have to wait another year of boating (mainly offshore) to how I feel about the etec 2stroke (115) v yamaha (100) will debate.

If you use the hose attachment to flush the engine don't run the engine whilst flushing, you will be trying to push the water against the flow of the waterpump.
Flush with the engine off, or if you want to run the engine use muffs.

PS I wasn't familiar with the etec hose fitting either, I had only seen the fitting with the female thread in the hardware shops, the male thread version is usually there, you just need to look a little harder for it.

ye it is 40HP 06 ETEC......a standard hose fitting doesnt fit , need something a bit smaller but yeh hopefully one of the big hardware stores might have soemthings smaller

Noel my 90hp is not a specialised size neither is my brothers 50hp just a normal sprinkler fitting 3/4 bsp male

sort of guessed that, but he seemed to have a drama locating one, they have used the same system since the Ficht days back to the 90's

Ok in summary, there are 2 ways to flush these modern motors.

1 by hose attachment at the top of the motor. (do not run the engine)
2 by the ears attachment with hose at the cooling water inlet at the bottom of the leg. (running the engine)

Hoping someone can confirm please.

could do that debate very shortly as well had a 115hp yamaha and know got a 150 etec.. what a massive difference it has made to the boat..
