    positioning boat

Just started to get into abit of bottom bouncing and was after any advice on the best way to get boat postiioned. I have been trying to anchor side on but have trouble working out how we will hang, which way the lines will run out ,can be confusing.I thought the tide floods north to south and the reverse on the ebb. is there a way to get the boat to hang consistantly in a position using sea anchor and reef anchor or is it just lots of practice and experience any advice and tips would be great cheers Yamp

    Re: positioning boat

If we anchor we sit at the spot for a smidge to see which way the current is going and how fast and then we start motoring from the down current side from spot X, motor over spot X and chuck the kellick over after we have gone over spot X and past it a bit. The current will then let us drift back and hopefully the anchor holds over spot X and the snapper are on!!
A bit dagerous in my opinion anchoring with your beam across the ocean.
I intend on living for-ever....so far so good

Dont know what size boat but bit too much run to try an anchor side on. best way I find is stop on the spot and watch which way you drift and than position yourself so you will drift to the spot... it may take a couple of goes

We get to the spot and knowing the spots we fish work out which way the tides are wether they are incoming or outgoing gives us a rough idea...... So while we are seting up our rigs and posistioning our esky and kill bin and bait at ready we get a rough idea how we'll anchor with the wind current and tide.
Not that it works all the time but we are getting it down pact most of the time

There is a fine line between fishing and just standing on the shore like an idiot

I wonder how much deeper the ocean would be without sponges

Up here we Use Hussar as baits for real RED FISHS (SHSIIFDER)
