I was at mud on the weekend and same story, lots of 25-35cm squire. Got smoked a few times on my 8lb bream gear, pulled out my 30lb set up and landed 3 massive cat fish that would have been close to a metre long!

What I find with Mud is that you can go there one day and do well in perfect conditions and the very next day it is entirely different. It is the luck of the draw. It happened to me last week in fact. Went Friday and had one of the best trips ever having caught enough to provide fresh fillets for three nights in a row and then went back the following day in my brother's boat and caught zip.

WEnt out yesterday and until about 1pm it was table top calm. Then wihin about five seconds - I am not kidding, it was that quick - the wind went to about 15-20, maybe on the tide change i don't know. Anyway, forgot to put the sounder in so wasn't sure what depth i was in and have never been out there before. All i got was the odd griner and picking squire about 100m. No hits on live mullet or wintery. BUt was a good trip out anyway.
