mate i was up there 3 weeks ago and its not to good, its been worse but its defenetly not at its best. i towed my 7m up and back and sat on about 60k averedge some places slower. its not bad a drive so taking it preety slow doesent bother me. if you are towning a boat up be sure to put something on it to stop stone chips.

    Re: Road To Stanage

This is a report from Merv who was there mid April with a caravan.

The road is 100klm with about 25klm of good two lane sealed road at the start. Sealed is in two sections with about 8klm between the sections. The balance of the 75klm is not too bad but as with all dirt roads can change particularly after wet. Not many corrugated sections but from memory around three all fairly short bits of less than 1 kay each. There are several causeways that you need to cross very slowly and about 20 grids that are well pot holed on both sides. Slow to idle speed and just roll through them. Mostly I travelled at up to 60kph looking well ahead for approaching bad sections of pot holes and slow down to 5 - 10klm for them.

We took about 2.5 - 3 hours on the way out. Had 4 stops to let boat towers through and for photo ops. Is a good scenic drive out with a couple of pretty lilly filled billabongs. Less than 2 hours on the return back to the highway.
