Back on topic here is a another view.
I have owned a reputable 6.25 mt mono
and currently own a 5mt Markham Dominator cat
and the smaller boat would be my first choice as far as
stablity, softness in ride performance and dryness goes..

I would love to go for a spin in one and can't comment as i've never been in one so i'll bow to experience until then! But i will say that i dont think it would back down on a fish very well at all , it sure had a low ass end!

Hello Ian how are you? yes it is the boat i am talking about, as its my own . I tend to just turn and chase when hooked up, but backing up is ok however i wouldn't like to back up on a nasty day thats for sure! . overall i think you will be very surprised how well the little 5.6 goes.

    Cheers

They should maybe make some sort of seat under there a standard option , thats if they don't already! . So Ian can i have the pro's and cons for the Hydrofield to please!! As i would love to see what a cat has or what a cat can do, that a hydrofield can't? I would also love to see a cat do what a Hydrofield can do in a bar and stay upright !!!! There my 2 cents worth.

    Matty

P.S i also have fished out of both!
As a former owner of both the aforementioned boats, I can tell all that the 5.2 KC is a much better boat all round than the 18 Hydrofield Jaguar. In fact I can't think of one thing the 18 did better than the 5.2.

I'd also have to give another vote to the Seafarer Victory (current boat) as it's a great all rounder.

I don't however believe there is one "best 6 metre hull", as they are all great boats, but suitable for so many different uses and needs.

    Thanks IO,

Have had lots of interest, but it doesn't look like anyone has the money to buy at the moment. It's a harsh world.

Mate the defining thing will be the budget, IMO a cat in this day and age would be a terrible investment its bad enough running and maintaining one engine. Many of todays monohulls provide good performance in terms of ride stability fishability and economy.Again IMO (and it being correct of course) you wont go better in glass than a580 -600 haines in glass and if you wanna be the man an Edenraft- Formula.Aluminium ,well aside from acouple of Kiwi style pontoon rigs its great stuff for cookin pies in. Dunno about the new hydros but my boss has a 565 jag ,not a bad ride but wet as buggery and dips it nose into pressure waves like a big old duck.

Re: best offshore hull under 6.2m

I’m surprised no-one has come up with the correct answer, the best boat in any size or conditions is a mates
    • Low running costs
    • No Maintenance
    • No scratches or dings
    • No storage
    • No depreciation
But when you do buy, no point buying second best, buy a Cat

It must be the 5.6 Jag as they did not make a 565 unless it was before my time . Tell your boss when taking waves at a slow pace to hit them on a slight angle and BAM!!! problem fixed Ok one persons day helped now Boat Boy...... i under stand your loss of memory, as going from both the Hydro and the cat, then to a seafarer, all that recent hard hitting you have been through can cause loss of memory so i do feel for you ok All jokes aside, think to a day where you came home in a decent side on swell, same sort of conditions and tell me the cat rode better then the Hydro Also there is no way a cat will out preform a hydro in bar work as not even the die hard cat owners will admit to this . And scaredy cat your name says it all i do fell for you honestly .

    Cheers
    Matty

p.s if i did have to go to a mono the 6m MR ED would be my pick 100% hands down the best mono hull set up going round IMO, and as for the 565 rideing better then the 6m i would love to see that
