SIP impoundent Chris, and I think you need a boating permit??????
Ive never fished it, or camped there, but its an easy day trip from Briz Vegas. Up the highway, turn off at Caboolture, head out thru Woodford to Kilcoy, easy as.
Im in Darryl, even if only for the day, see what happens re camp over.
you also got to buy a boating permit to be able go onto the dam if i remeber right its about 15 bucks for a week
so is this gunner be late july or early
They sting you for a boating permit & a SIP (no dramas on the SIP) - I have a feeling that I've been out there many moons ago when I did a run out to ESK from Bribie Is
Anyhow ..... It all sounds like fishing to me

for the south Brisbane ppl, it's an easy run - Head down the highway towards ipswich / blacksoil, turn right at black soil thru to Fernvale, just north of Fernvale you turn right to head up to somerset.
Never fished it, but did live out that way... July = Brass monkeys!!!! can / does get mighty cool in July at night so winter woolies required!!!!!
Cheers,
Steve
Count me in.Might have my new boat by then.
If not-anyone want a deckie??
Having fished Somerset for many many years...I can assure you that u will require a SIP's and a Boat permit (either a yearly or weekly permit...a Yearly permit will cost you $100 and if paid before the due date $75.....or a weekly permit which is the way to go if you intend to visit Once or Twice a year $15)..then there's your camping fee's.....apart from that you can camp at Kirkleagh or at the Township of Somerset both places have all the amenities of manual BBQ's at Somerset and electric BBQ's at Kirkleagh....the same as Monduran without the Camp Kitchen's...a number of Cement ramps or if you have a 4X4 u can put in where it is obvious....There is a Kiosk at the enterance at Kirkleagh that u must stop at to obtain a number to punch in to the electronic gate.......Gate is opened at The Spit End (Somerset) @0600hrs by the Ranger who will check your everything.....If you require an early start at Kirkleagh (before 0600hrs)end you will need to ring the day before and they will give an access number over the phone....if you have no idea about Somerset Kirkleagh The spit...look on the Sweetwater webpage and all will be revealed with the necessary map required.....apart from all of that you will love the Wonderful Somerset Dam...AAAwww Good luck with the Bass....and if you give a **** or wondering I will be interested in a SOMERSET SESSION in July.....September October would be better....but I will be chasing another species roundabout then....I think it's called the Monduran Muster 2009
Good Mates....Good Food.....Good Fishing....Priceless
