Reading the ABT mag, where Motty retro fitted his Ice Jigs with a wide gape Mustad single hook for better hook ups, mite be worth a look?

Those heavier ones we tried were ok but they don't stay connected

    Funny!

I was reading the 2010 AB mag, where M. Mott retro fitted his Nillsy Ice Jig with a wide gape Mustad single, instead of the belly treble, for increased hook up rates.

I assume Daryl's talking about this new saltwater jig from o/s I was trying. I caught about 5 bass in 10 mins on it then cut it off and lent it to Daryl try it. He tied it on and first cast he hooks a good bass, then his knot slips and he looses the fish and the lure.
Don't worry about it mate I've managed to pick up a few more of them since then.
    Cheers

Steve that was Mike Creighton who won at Borumba not me, I had a top w/e though, catching a bucket full of squid in the dirty salt on Sat and then tagging bass at Nth Pine on Sun.

I spoke to Mike Creighton yesterday and he told me the fishing at Borumba was pretty tough with most only landing 1 or 2 bass for the whole w/e. He got his fish on spinnerbaits and "Iyoken Sound" Jackalls up both creeks.
    Cheers

Well done Trev, you've had some good results at Borumba lately. You'll have to teach me your secrets some time, or should I be asking Callum?

I guess you guys would be in a good possition to take out the series now.
Did they have many teams enter?
    Cheers

    Hi Mike

I was wondering if you would mind telling me what lure you are referring to. Sounds like I should get one!

    Regards Eleanor

I'll tell you after the Anzac w/e Dayrl, the Somerset ABT is on then. Could be crowded I recon.

Eleanor it was a very good day and most things were working but that lure was a Ever Green Marvie 70 in their "pilchard colour".
Here is a link to one so you get an idea what they look like, different colour though. If anyone finds somewhere in AUS that sells these could they let me know please.
