    Coochie Car Park 24/4/09

Hit the water about 6.00am - just before dawn....arrived at the Northern side of Coochie ...hoping to get onto a couple of snapper but as I've learnt anything will hit a gulp prawn....a few boats around but after a few drifts it quickly became a car park - there was a line of boats all fishing the drop-off.....I presume using bait as all were anchored......I end up with two under size snapper and 1 flathead about 40cm - all placed safely back in the water to continue growing.....I used a variety of SPs but the most succussful was any colour in the 3inch gulp prawn (natural, penny, molting).....my SP experiences continue...and am hoping to get out there again next week....

On a side note: I am really impressed with the Lowrance HDS5 - the first time I have been able to test on water....the defination and clairty is amazing....anyone looking for a GPS / sounder combo - it's well worth the $1200 to $1300....what I really like is that it didn;t cut out at high speeds...in the past the sounders I have had would cut out at high speed...screen would go blurry and I couldn't tell what the depth was until I slowed down.....but not the HDS5 - other sounders may not as well but this is the first I have owned and it didn't cut out at high speed...

    Cheers - reddybayfisher...

Hi reddy , you might try the south western side of peel, from the bottom to a klm north on that western side in the 10-16ft depth range often has some nice squire...
