    Hinze fishing without a sounder

Im taking the wife for a flick at Hinze on Sunday to try and get her a fisrt bass, She has always wanted to catch one after the amount of times i have told her how hard these fish fight. I dont have a sounder/fish finder so do i just fish along the banks and points. I have a map of the area to get around with and i will be using tn60s, spinnerbaits, surface lures and sps. any advice would be great, my plan is if i can get her onto a good fish and she loves it, i might be able to make it a regular thing.
    Cheers
If i could get paid the same to fish, sorry boss but i ......!

Give it a go geoff. you can only try. Working the grass and weed edges is what I usually do anyway. most of the dam is pretty deep up the western arm. plan B, once they school up you might need to troll to find them but I guess that's what we did before sounders.

    Cheers Roo.

Yes Geoff, I second what Roo has told you. Troll around and if you get a double hookup thats a good sign there might be a school there. Turn around and give it the once over again. Without a sounder watch the depth along some banks as your Jackells will get hooked up on the bottom. If I was you I would troll with the cheaper g-vibes which have always worked well for m. Other than that look for some fishy looking edges and cast to them. Fished it for 4 hours last weekend without a fish -weekend before it was firing. Which arm are you going up? - cheers Richard

G'day Geoff, yep, what they said!!! Roo and Richard (R&R - Great name for a fishing team boys, you should team up!!!) are all over it. Had a similar situation to what you've got myself last trip Geoff, only mine was due to my piss poor wiring!!!! Have found them to be very hit & miss, might be a bit too cool now for the surface lures, but try em till say 7am then put them away. Just a quick one on lure colour, my Mate outfished me 3 - 1 using the Banana colour TN60 recently, I tried all the usuals, Ayu, Wakasagi, Brown Dog but in the end had to tie on a Banana (horrible lookin thing) to get amongst them, got most of our fish from the waterfall on, heading towards the Western arm, did not get a touch up till then????? Best of luck, hope to see youse on the water over the cooler months, see if we can stir up some sulking 50cm versions deep???? Cheers, Jamie.
