Clearly it was actually 100kph even though we've all been doing 80. So I wonder if anyone has a ticket for doing over 80 but under 100? I hope not.

Anyway, 80kph is fine. 30kph on inland tracks is getting a bit low but ok.

    Re: Fraser Tragedy's

I have asked the police on the island and the response was ,they say its 100 and the rangers limit is 80.Rangers have the power to give you a ticket 4 speeding, but it prob wouldnt stand up in court.I am tempted to vent about rangers but it takes to long to type crap about pointless issues.

    Re: Fraser Tragedy's

RANGERS LOVE ME... Ok, here's what you do.

Go see costa on the manta ray and say you part of a 4bie club and want a discount and that your late and your beach permit is waiting for you over there already. Or subsiqauntly keep your old sticker stuck to your wind screen from the time before and let the sun fade it. .

Get a camping permit for 1 person for 1 night. Then wet it and quickly put it back in its plastic pouch and tie it to your tent. Tell them its for all of you and whaallaa. They are so lazy they dont check. Or tie a yellow ribbon to your camp site. That means to the rangers that they have checked it already when you wherent there and its all good.

If your going to do donuts on the beach, do it infront of someone you dont likes campsite .

If there is a fire ban (but not a total 1) means your allowed to have a fire for cooking only. So if your going to have a roaring fire. Keep a stick with some sausages close.

The amount of times those boso's have come into my camp when I wasnt there and gone through all my stuff. Tents open, full of mozzies and sand flies. Our food bags expossed in our tents... Discraceful.

Ps. I do pay my own way. But its just a fun game of cat and mouse I play with the rangers.

well ben Dover..with your attitude of doing what you want and playing kiddies games with the Rangers..is it any wonder the greens want the places closed?
The only way to combat them is for everyone that uses these places to act responsibly at all times and not give the greenies any valid reasons to push for closures.

    Re: Fraser Tragedy's

Yeah, I have a problem with authority . Just kidding. Im responsible. I take my nephews over to these great islands and give them the same upbringing that I had. Money is no object and I always pay way more than my share of my own way. I just hate all the extra BS laws and the idiots who inforce them. Ive been going to fraser for 20 years and I used to know all the rangers. But unfortunately as more and more people go to these places, things change and I know its just life, but its still sad. I have to start trying to find other places to start going to further north.

The ONLY way to preserve fraser /moreton and strad. Is to reduce the total of numbers on the island at any 1 time. But that to me is un australian.

    Q. If you had to book 3 months in advance at a fee of around $500 per car load to go to fraser. But youd be garanteed there would only be 20 4x4's (private, including back packers trucks) on the island at any 1 time. Would you pay it?

    Re: Fraser Tragedy's

nope..but I can remember going to Moreton before there were any vehicles on there..i would not mind if they banned them on Moreton completely. fraser..only been there once about 30 odd years back..did not like it then and have not been back.

    Re: Fraser Tragedy's

Fraser is WAY more important than moreton. It DID have the most purist strain of dingo's and wild life. Not really the case anymore. Not to mention its the worlds largest sand island and has its own diverse eco systems. And you want 4x4's banned on moreton completely. Very sad.

Some people dont have boats and can see the things your so priveledged too. Their only family escape is a tent on the beach camping.

People still have legs as far as I know.
How did they get on before vehicles were allowed on the islands?
I intend on living for-ever....so far so good

we walked finga..I can remember fishing a round of the Sth Qld championships at Moreton..we got off the boat at Tangalooma and we jogged up the beach to get to Cowan to fish before dark..hell..just thinking about that now makes me exhausted. We also used to go to Reeders Pt. a bit..Unity Fishing Club had a hut down there..always some brumbies and wild pigs around.

    Re: Fraser Tragedy's

Unfortunately ,this happens far more than whats in the news, maybe troopies should be replaced by the likes of suzuki serrias ect to stop the overloading side of things, and well, with the foot to the floor in 1 of em ,top speed is 80 kph anyhow..

    Re: Fraser Tragedy's

For anyone who's interested, Fairfax media (brisbanetimes.com.au) are reporting that 3 backpackers are launching legal action against a fraser island hire company for a troopy rollover previous to this rollover. It'll be interesting to see how they go and whether this case will open the floodgates for litigation against the hire companies and then massive regulation by the government will surely follow.

    Re: Fraser Tragedy's

Hmmmm maybe this is a good thing.....
Less back packers makes for a quieter and more peaceful trip..
