Spearfishing

hey all,
just wondering how many of us would like to have a spearfishing chat section on this website?

I have just started doing a little bit of spearfishing up here in north QLD, and keen to hear everyone elses stories and see some fotos.

Maybe the mods need to make up a spearfishing section.

I know its not a spearfishing forum but it think that we as fisherman enjoy all aspects of fishing and I personally would love to post, and perouse through a spearfishing section.

Ive got all the gear to go spearing but have only been the once but it was great, although fishing is still good, i dont mind going for a spear every now and then. You get to see a lot more than just sitting in the boat.

Yeah it would be great, especially so they can tell us why fisherman wear the blame and the loss of territory because the spearos killed of the sharks. They can also tell us why the state government spends millions putting down a wreck so bloody tourists can dive them but we aren't allowed within cooee of them.

check out the game fishing capture clubs and see if they take sharks.. spearo's dont take sharks. what happened was a long long time ago and was socially acceptable then..

do some research and see the work the AUF is doing with the shark count and lobbying generally.

your other issue regarding wrecks is totally different to spearfishing... spearo's cant go near it either.

A spearfishing forum would be a good idea. there are spearfishing forums on other sites, but for those that enjoy both angling and spearing this woud be a good site for both. as long as it doesn't become a forum for bitching about each other.

There are legitimate agruments on both sides.

Most Spearo's only take the exact fish they are after, with the exception of some spearfishing comps which promote the taking of species which are killed for points not for eating (seargent baker, sweep, jackets, silver drummer etc.)

on the other hand, some fisherman are filthy grubs, they leave their rubbish behind, take undersize fish, ignore bag limits and make a bad name for themselves.

keep the forum positive and it should be good for all to read.

I totally agree with kokomo and chopper taylor.

The arguments you are trying to support are old and have nothing to do with the whole idea of having a spearfishing section, if you dont like it then dont read the bloody articles hey, simple as that.

Never done it and never seen any photos of it BUT would love to see it especially underwater photos!!!
