    Chimo, you are correct.

    It is widely accepted that the V4 OMC motors are good for at least 2000 hrs.

    The pro abalone divers used to recondition the gearboxes at 1000hrs (due to lots of work following the diver) and trade the motors in at 2000 hrs.

    Keep in mind that any motor is only ever as good as it has been maintained.

    every 1000hrs for a reco.. hmm we used to throw a dog in the box every 250hrs and a few bits in thecontrol box and then throw the whole box in the bin at 750hrs but this was on the 225's I guess 200 gear changes every 1/2 hour was too much for them

    Yep, every 1000 hrs.

    And sold at 2000 hrs when they were getting tired ... sold to Victorians so they at least had some good motors on their boats.
