At Heaven's gate a soldier stood,
his story ready to tell,
St Peter said, 'no need my son all is understood,
Go right in cos you've already served your time in Hell'
Damn, just when I thought I was going to have a sea change without having to go through the moving bit
Trippers is still around. he only got a weeks holiday.
maybe he got scared ????????????
Very interesting reading George.
Wonder who's going to cook the HUMBLE PIE for all the doomsdayers ???

Its not politically correct to have a world war to stimulate economy any more. Carbon credits should do the job though, just need to up the scare factor.
Garret is a half wit of astounding proportion.

Last week, federal Environment Minister Peter Garrett said experts predicted sea level rises of up to 6m from Antarctic melting by 2100, but the worst case scenario foreshadowed by the SCAR report was a 1.25m rise.
Dosent he know that the ice melting dosent cause significant sea rises but the temperature of the ocean and expansion is what causes the rise of water levels
"light gear big fish big fun"
next he will be sprouting sea levels will fall...then there will be more global warming as the heat radiates back from all the exposed sand at the beaches.
Ooh, cannot wait for the official report
It's another case of take what info we can use and try and hide the rest.
Bugger them I say. let the whole truth out.
It seems like all the information/reports handed out by our government and greeny type organisations is to suit their agenda whether it be lock up ALL of the environment as we're destroying it like there's no tomorrow or vote for me..... all a bit like statistics and tax returns. Tell you what the writer wants you to know and no more, no less and maybe a white fib here and there.
I intend on living for-ever....so far so good
yeah, but they do say in this article that there are other parts of antarctica that are melting so don't ignore that fact either or you'd be doing just the same as the government is doing by only focussing on a small part of the truth and not the full picture. don't make the assumption that because the antarctic ice is growing that pollution is ok either.
i myself am a climate change sceptic, the weather we have experienced in the last 12 months has taken me back to being a kid in the 70's, walking home from school in a hail storm a couple of arvo's a week in summer, winter was cold and summer was friggin hot, it's gotta be part of a big cycle.
It's intriguing, isn't it? I will forward the link to dear Mr. Garrett. I wonder if he will read it?
Seriously, there is sooooo much of this stuff coming out - even 1.25 m sea level rise really is a joke, the reality will be about 20mm, with an error level of about that much. That's what the OBJECTIVE experts say... And that's IF warming is happening, which now seems unlikely on a long term basis.
It's no wonder folk like Trippers buggered off. We demanded he examine his own mantra. Fanatics don't like that. He probably hangs on a Greenie forum somewhere, complaining about all those psycho Fishos he used to know, and cherry picking bits of info that support the mantra and ignoring the oncoming freight train of contradictory evidence.
Cheers,
Tim
Carbon Really Ain't Pollution.
Too true Paddles, I also remenber those stormy days as a kid. As much as it is fun poking holes into these zealots ideologies we do have to look at the whole picture.
The story does actually say "Australian Antarctic Division glaciology program head Ian Allison said sea ice losses in west Antarctica over the past 30 years had been more than offset by increases in the Ross Sea region, just one sector of east Antarctica."
Now if Ian isn't showing concern then as an expert I would assume that there is nothing to worry about.
I actually liken this polar ice stuff to be in similar nature to some of our unique sand islands. They are constantly moving, re-shaping, being buffered by the elements. The polar icecaps will never be or never have been static.
Shane
that's it in a nutshell shane, nothing in nature ever seems to stay still for too long, it's just that some people (usually scientists) like to try and figure out a theory as to why it's all happening, and it's good stuff too, society needs people like them to figure out stuff for the rest of the dummies like me.
I wonder how may people know about the 18 year lunar/ tide cycle.
Aparantly we are about to peak the cycle shortly.
How much does this effect the climate, particularly in the land of droughts and flooding rains.
Do they still teach primary school kids " A sunburnt country" like they did when I was a kid.....if they don't they should..... because it tells it like it is.
cheers
Its the details, those little details, that make the difference.
We have 2 threats to the world, 1 is the poles are due for a reversal, due in this instance means in mega time and 2 a comet/meteor is heading straight for us, I forget when it's due but it's easily within the majority's lifetime I think.
From memory calculations have it touching even our atmosphere, how they can calculate to such a degree I dunno, i suspect they cannot absolutly.
It's BIG and a total end of the world scenario from a humans perspective if it gets us.
Stuff the ice
cheers fnq
Yep, I agree whole heatedly.
They should still teach it for many reasons least of which is climate change.
I'd love to put it in full but it's copyrighted so it can be read in full here
My Country

Dorothea Mackellar
(1885 - 1968)
I love a sunburnt country,
A land of sweeping plains,
Of ragged mountain ranges,
Of droughts and flooding rains.
I love her far horizons,
I love her jewel-sea,
Her beauty and her terror -
The wide brown land for me!
