Greetings all!
Once had a Sri-Lankan girlfriend.............
Very tasty....as was the food I ate with the young lady and her family.
I'm interested in cooking and have a recipe from a new cookbook.
'Recipes of the Jaffna Tamils' Nesa Eliezer.
Shark Varai
- 250g Shark or Flake fillet.
- 1 cup grated (unsweetened) dessicated coconut.
- ¼ tsp turmeric powder.
- ¼ tsp ground black pepper.
- 1 tsp cumin powder.
- 1 tsp salt.
- ¼ tsp chilli powder.
- 2tbsp vegetable oil.
- 1 large onion, chopped.
- 1-4 dried red chillies.
- ½ tsp black mustard seeds.
- 1 sprig curry leaves.
- Poach the shark meat in a little salted water and let cool.
- Shred the shark into small pieces and add the coconut, turmeric, pepper, cumin, salt and chilli.
- Fry the onions until transparent.
- Add chillies, mustard seeds and curry leaves.
- Stir for 2-3 minutes.
- Add the shark mixture and heat over a low flame until all is warmed through.
Regards, Rob.
