Caught many of them on poppers at the hot water outlet behind the power station in Gladstone when I lived there. Also Mann's stretch 10 yielded excellent results. They were 'Blue' Salmon, known as Cooktown Blues and the odd King. The salmon in Bris seem to be exclusively King salmon, known as Burdekin Kings.
DR
we use prawnstars though not a soft plastic it is a lure or next is soft prawn imitations
in the Fitzroy River you can find where they are feeding by the golfball size dints they leave in the mud as they stir up prawns, yabbies and crabs etc
you can tell fresh divots from old ones if you look at the drag and wash marks from previous tides
find the fresh dints on the last of the runout and thats where you get them on the run in
they will come in very shallow and when it is quiet you can see them running over mudflats with their dorsal fins out of the water
the other tip is, fish in close to things like old boats or car bodies that create a muddy current line
here's a780mm little fella with a prawnstar in his gob from next to the ramp at Nerrimbera
