    SP's off harbour/head rocks

Hi guys, I haven't been fishing in a few months due to all kinds of evil (job, study, graduating). I'm hoping to get back into it this weekend. A problem is that I absolutely cannot catch anything off lures when I cast into the ocean.

I've caught flatties and bream in the rivers (hawkesbury, parramatta) on diving minnows.

I'd like to think i've learnt a bit more about SP control since then, so I am keen to punch my SP virginity square in the gonads.

Does anyone have tips on how to catch something with SPs off rocks? Facing the mouth of Sydney harbour, or thereabouts. I mainly fish around here

I've been using 1/4 or 1/8oz jig heads to no avail. I've got grubs etc all gulps.

I have a shimano raider snapper light (7'3" Long and is rated 4-7kg) w/ a 4000 symetre. Using 10lb braid. How much difference does the leader make?

When i learnt to fish with plastics off the rocks I found you had to over emphasise everything you did. Leader, plastics, plastic movement, gear etc. If you're fishing for bream in the washes then I've found you can up your leader to 15-20lb if you're getting smashed up. Try to cast into the edges of washes and let your plastic touch bottom and then do large hops instead of the subtle twitches you would use in the estuaries.

Ah I see. So were you intentionally casting it into the wash? Isn't that quite close to the edge of the rocks?

I try to cast out as far as I can, and then bounce it back towards me. I've had 1 bite like that...

What size jighead and SP did you use?
