There's a heap of heavy crap out there at the moment and just out front off Hornibrook. If you're boating near there, be careful.

Your right Kev, could have walked across the pine this afternoon with all the weed on the surface, can only imagine all the logs etc that are mixed in with it.
The bay was glassed out this arvo, and i was surprised at the amount of crap in the water, mostly Pine branches and fronds, as far as the eye could see, off the entire front between Scarborough and Margate. Definitely take care when boating over the next few days....some of those soft leaves may not be what they seem.
I think the majority of it is water hyacynth from up the pine, I would still proceed with caution as you do not know what else has been flushed out of the systems.
you are right SS. Had a look today and its all washed up on the shore....thick as. Water Hyacinth. Was the source of amusement for many beachgoers along the Reddy peninsula. No doubt the Council will be getting the tractors out to pretty it up before the weekend. Still a fair bit floating out in the bay though, so be aware, one of those clumps wrapped around the leg could clog the water intake.
