T1 & T2 headed out on Friday night to attempt a few sixes – the BRG the chosen venue. They departed the dressing rooms and headed straight out for some ‘Net’ practice with some volunteer bowlers in Herrin & Prorn, with Mullay chiming in with a few nice deliveries.
Warmed up, they headed out to the middle only for the Port of Brisbane Umpire, Strikezback, expressing his displeasure at their positioning! After adjusting their stance under his watchful eyes, play commenced.
T1 was the 1st to take strike only to be thwarted by the annoying Feesch clan, with Kat in particular cutting everything off before the boundaries could be reached! Feesch, who seems to have bulked up considerably over summer was everywhere, giving both batsmen no chance! Persisting, Feesch continued to excel in the field, while Strikezback continually checked their stance. Both batsmen were getting frustrated and decided on a permanent change in stance. While this left the Umpires uninterested, it certainly didn’t have the same impact on Feesch! He continued on in fine form – left, right, straight – excelling on the circle hook shot especially.
After a brief rain interruption, the stance was altered again this time bringing the out the best in Shuvelnoze Ray, who bowled an annoying line. With rain moistening conditions and a cooler breeze drifting through, stumps was called and T1 & T2 trudged back to the rooms – beaten, but not disappointed with the opportunity for a bat.
“It was great to get out and have a bat with T2 after an enforced lay off and give the equipment a good shakedown!” commented T1.
T2 added “Yeah, I’d have to agree. T1 certainly cracked a few through the covers again but just couldn’t reach those boundaries unfortunately! This session certainly sets us up for a few more in the coming weeks so hopefully we can get our timing right and nail some sixes.”
