I thaught about lots of things but I keep comming back to the off the shelf tags.
Dont use the white/ clear cable ties that come with and don't use the carpy pen that comes with.
proper fill sozed niko marker and decent sized black cable ties...I put mine inside.
one thing I did think about was recycled plastic filing dividers.

I am going to stamp white poly plastic and cable tie it inside the pots as I make my next batch. Tired fo inks rubbing off etc.

I wonder about whether crabs can pick up electricity generated by different metals in salt water........... probably not?
Old CDs or DVDs. They already have a hole in them for a cable tie.
There was a time when one used to get a lot of promotional CDs and DVDs in the mail advertising things like internet suppliers. Likewise, if you work in an office, there are usually lots around with old unwanted data on them.

With no Ties
Great tags to label, bike, boat and car parts.
Weather proof, never fade, break or rust. Soft Aluminium marker tags. Write the name on the tag with a ball point pen and it is permanently engraved. 25x75mm or 3"long x 1" wide.

Thin polly board and use either dremel with a bur on it to engrave details or I have also done it with the tip of the soldering iron. Inside the pot and crimped stainless leader so it can't be removed real fast. Have also taken to using some coloured net repair thread on pots from new so I can identify mine at a distance at a ramp so even if label is removed. If I catch someone with one I'll be able to identify it and will want an explaination and not a BS one and police to reclaim at a minimum.
More info, when you use an old pen to maek the aluminium, place the aluminium on a newspaper,so it beds in deeper.Its permanent.

tin snips and a coke can to make ally tabs but they can still have sharp edges and cut. Old phillips head screw driver ( tip rounded smooth) on newspaper on a piece of leather. They do corrode and go dull but always should be readable.
Any one tried with some 1mm stainless sheet or just used letter and number stamps with a hammer on thicker metal. Aleast it would be there forever?
I've been writing my details on all the PVC support tubes on my round pots
Note that page 30 of the rec rules does not state that both the float and the pot have to be marked. Nor does the web site.
