Harry's and cracked hull again (photos att.)

Shot off to harry's each day at low tide to hit the snapps but noticed a bit of water a few days ago when the old boat doesn't take any and then i noticed a funny sound as i hit the swell and found myself for the third time with about 100 litres of water in the hull and a slow trip back to the boat ramp and top it off someone has stolen my crab pot of welly but at least i got a 40 to 45 cm each day for a small feed and 1 crab before it was stolen. I am having alot of trailor troubles with the boat cracking in transit and i only go about 5 k's to the ramp. A heap of snapper on the sounder at harry's has certainely made my loss of peel a good change to target on the plastics. Cheers all and happy easter. (back to the welder again)

Its a 4.2 metre tinny and the back wheel had dropped off and put to much weight on the shell and it has cracked a metre from the back in the centre rail and it was a previous good weld job but extra weight with the bow mount with 2 batteries is what seems to be to much weight to wind the boat on.

mate i was out at harries today and found heaps of fish to but the current was raging through there and also saw about6 boats hook up to the bottom with sand anchors and one dude pulled up a car tire for his troubles. ended with a couple of nice squire and sweetlip and was home by 10.30

Pulled up a shopping trolly one day at harries. Bloody thing put up a cracker fight. It was actually zig zaging through the water all over the show.

Yep, very little omega-3 and some would think high in mineral content lol!!! Wonder what the line class record for this steely fish is?????? hey Chief, have you ever had to 'chase' or 'back down' on such a lively capture???
Hey DD, I would be looking at getting the trailer modified somewhat, it shouldn't cause your hull to crack. Have a look at the roller/slide setup to see if the load is being shared. Is the correct weight on the towball?? Does the trailer 'bounce' when at road speed??
What type of tie down are you using??......its possible that it is too tight.
I once split a fibreglass hull for about a 6ft length along one of the ribs between rollers and slides. Turned out I had 'blown' a wheel bearing which caused the 'A' frame on the trailer to break and consequently split the glass. Left Wello and got all the way to Peel before noticing the extra payload of water in the Hull. Very interesting and slow trip back to the ramp.

I have the same hull as you Dobson, it split the down the left hand side up at Hervey Bay. The water was flowing in pretty quickly and the only way to slow it down was to go flat out as the bilge pump couldn't cope and at low speed it would put pressure on the seem opening it up for more water. It was all good until we had to do 6 knots in the marina.

Had it all tig welded and has been fine ever since.

Cheers boys can't wait to get hooked up on that shopping trolly iy seems to go hard lol. The trailer started giving trouble when i put aluminium wheels down the centre as the sales said they all use on tinny's well thats just to hard a ride for the boat when i had a tillar steer electric and 2 batteries at the back and she cracked. After that it has curved the sides of under and it just sitts wrong and keeps cracking. It had an orsome reweld but i don't know if he drilled the ends first. It is a stessco catcher tinny.

Those trollies can be very dangerous in their natural habitat, especilay if they get a run.....I hear they have been known to bite at other metal creatures (cars) just out of spite.

The worst thing is you never know which way they are gona go next, then you get the one with the kadoomp kadoomp head shakes. I've been told that comes from previous injuries.

One of the most dangerous things you can do with one of these is to put a child in charge of the tail rope, It requires a full grown addult to control one of these, especilay arround shelves and dropoffs. They are just as likly to make a run for it smashing into anything that gets in its way.

I believe they can weigh in near half a tonne when they are full of roe ready to spawn.

some say they are parasitic because they lay their eggs in a those other metal spicies.

Some argue that the larval stage is actulay the grocery, but there has been no proof of this.

    cheers
